Twenty years ago, I unintentionally started the Arise and Shine painting series with this humble 10” x 10” watercolor on paper.
The inspiration for this painting was from the powerful declaration to rise above this world’s darkness: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” (Isaiah 60:1)
I’d learned the entire chapter was an invitation for people to rise up and let both the brilliance and radiance of God shine through them to break through the darkness and despair of a downtrodden nation. . . in order to bring light, restoration, and hope to it.
At that time, I simply wanted to capture the essence of such a glorious restoration via an expressive painting.
That one particular painting eventually became the point of departure for many others.
Throughout the years, I’ve painted literally dozens of unique versions of this image—including various mediums and sizes—yet, they’ve all been similar.
I never started out to make a series, but it’s evolved into one; and what a fun adventure it’s been!

Thousands of printed notecards have also been available throughout the years.
I am officially closing the Arise and Shine series of original works. (There are still a few original Arise and Shine minis for sale at The Paradigm Gallery located in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art. They ship artwork upon request.)
However, in the near future, I’ll be offering a variety of sizes of signed, giclee fine art reproductions of the original Arise and Shine watercolor image.

Giclee fine art reproductions are produced using fade-resistant inks and museum-archival quality papers that are designed for long-term stability, color accuracy, and fine detail.
Please sign up for the newsletter in order to receive notifications when they’ll be ready, pricing, and size details. (Gallery-wrapped canvas reproductions with archival inks for a finished, ready-to-hang presentation will also be offered.)
Lastly, if you are a collector of one of the original Arise and Shine paintings throughout the years, your investment will be increasing in value.
Cheers!
