I've never publicly shown this picture. It's been too painful--but today it needs to be shared.
I am who I am today BECAUSE of that pain.
That pain has given me the passion for the message I have today.
I wrote my book so children never have to experience the relentless name-calling for being less than an ideal body size. I speak out today on behalf of those children.
I wrote my book for the slender teen who looks in the mirror and thinks he/she's too fat. And I wrote it for that teen's parents. I speak out today on behalf of that struggling family.
I wrote it for the moms of little ones who get little to no undisturbed sleep; yet still have to cope with a full schedule of responsibilities the next day. I speak out today on behalf of those mothers.
I wrote it for the middle aged person who's on the brink of a heart attack or stroke--and still has a family to raise--and desperately needs to live.
I wrote it for the parents of suicide loss. I wrote it for the abusive boyfriends and husbands. I wrote it for those caught in spiritual abuse. I wrote it for the “weight loss success story” who’s gained weight (gasp!). I wrote it for anyone who feels they are trapped in a situation without hope.
Today, a physician interviewed me on a podcast and said (paraphrased), "Your book is so much more than how to get out of an addiction."
Yep.
Emily Boller, artist, mother, and author of Starved to Obesity, lost 100 pounds more than fifteen years ago by eating an abundance of high-nutrient, plant-rich food. Today, she’s certified in whole plant food nutrition from the Nutritarian Education Institute. She’s on a mission to combine practical, no-nonsense and cost-effective tips—with easy to understand science—in order to help anyone escape the addictive grip of the Standard American Diet. And now, she’s on a mission to bring awareness to the suffocating and potentially deadly trap of eating disorders as well.
